Those sections are transcribed here — from the cover to the presentation rules — so the registry carries its own documentation. Section 3 (Indexes) is reserved for future use in the source; the 1504 entries of section 4.2 are the directory itself.

Volume I — transcribed here — is the data elements directory itself. Page v describes the other two volumes of the publication: Volume II — User Code List, the code list part of the UN/EDIFACT directory (part of UNCL), and Volume III — Compendium of Trade Facilitation Recommendations, the UNECE recommendations with their ISO equivalents (Rec. 3/ISO 3166 country codes, Rec. 9/ISO 4217 currencies, Rec. 16 LOCODE, Rec. 20 units of measurement, and others). This edition carries Volume I only; Volumes II and III are separate publications.
