Ontology guide
Every element of the directory is published as linked data under
https://www.untded.org/ns/untded#. This guide walks through the model; the
ontology page tabulates it in full and links the downloads.
The core resource
Each of the 1504 entries becomes a utd:TradeDataElement whose IRI is the
element’s registry page, e.g. https://www.untded.org/elements/1004. The
name is schema:name, the definition schema:description, and the entry
carries the tag, change tag, status and source page as typed properties.
Representation
The printed notation (e.g. an..35) is decomposed into a structured node:
utd:representation [ a utd:Representation ;
utd:printedForm "an..35" ;
utd:charset "an" ;
utd:minLength 1 ;
utd:maxLength 35 ] .
charset is one of a (alphabetic), an (alphanumeric) or n (numeric),
per the publication’s presentation rules.
Bridges and zones
The Locations column places elements on aligned document systems. Each
parsed location is a utd:Bridge node naming its utd:scheme (UNLK, SAD,
MAR, CIMP, …) and keeping the utd:detail verbatim. UNLK bridges — the
master form — carry utd:UnlkZone nodes with the line and character
position span and the field format:
utd:bridge [ a utd:Bridge ;
utd:scheme "UNLK" ;
utd:detail "an..17 L 04, P 63-80" ;
utd:zone [ a utd:UnlkZone ;
utd:lineFrom 4 ; utd:lineTo 4 ;
utd:posFrom 63 ; utd:posTo 80 ;
utd:fieldFormat "an..17" ] ] .
One entry (5010) prints its scheme without the colon — the source is followed verbatim and the parser accepts that form at the start of the cell.
Edition semantics
Entries retired against the 1993 edition link to the element to use
instead (utd:replacedBy), when the source prints the pointer. Old names
and business terms appear as skos:altLabel. The nine tag-range
categories form a skos:ConceptScheme; each element is a member of
exactly one category.
Machine access
- Whole directory: /data/untded.ttl, /data/untded.jsonld
- One element:
/elements/<tag>/data.ttlanddata.jsonld - Context: /ns/untded-context.jsonld — see the context guide
Everything above is generated from the dataset’s single vocabulary declaration; nothing on the registry is hand-maintained RDF.
